Thanks for the Tip Doug.
Rene and I went this morning. It was more of a job hunt talk and less a
wireless cluster talk. But it seemed informative. The speaker did discuss
the nature of the wireless sector in Ottawa, and that it comprised +/- 200
companies primarily involved in wireless software development for mobile
devices, but also a company that serves private radio for eastern Ontario.
The speaker also discussed how wireless companies are relatively unknown in
the Ottawa region. I suggested that it might be good for wireless
companies, and the cluster specifically, to consider providing wifi to
public institutions such as libraries, arenas and public housing as a
community contribution and to increase their profile and put Ottawa on the
map. The response was that that was the city's job!
Oh well!
