IIRC, the reason for the weirdo connectors was the FCC didnt want people to be easily able to add gain. The Part 15 rules state that the ERP is what they consider, not the just power output from the final amplifier; so you can see why this strange and hard to get connector would hinder all but the most determined.
Sorry to digress, but I have also had a hard time sourcing the reverse TNC connectors here in Canada; there are a couple of places in the US where they are available at a very high price. I believe it was more than $50 each plus shipping.
The N connector is a much better choice in general, since good quality Ns are much easier to find; at these frequencies a coupler or poorly terminated coax connector is very good attenuator. Definitely not what you want.
I believe Greg Milley had a really nice dish for sale last year, but I dont know if he still has it. He is pretty good guy and he has a lot of know-how.
You could contact him greg.milley at sympatico.ca

Does anyone know where I could get some RP-TNC connectors or a nice external WIFI antenna.
I currently have a WIFI setup going about 500M between 2 buildings but in the next few weeks my connection will be moved and Ill be about 700-800M away and I am not getting the best performance at the moment.
Id need to get an RP-TNC connector so I dont have to cannibalize another WRT54G and put a N Chassis connector. Id rather use the already existing, not ugly surface mounted, TNCs on the router.
So long story short Id love to find a nice parabolic dish 20+dB gain if could and some RP-TNC connectors.
